    80mph @3200rpm?

Just bought a 14 wrx limited with the 265hp motor and 5 spd. The rpms are high in my opinion on this car. I checked the sti 6th gear ratio and it's even worse. Has anyone put in a taller 5th gear or ring and pinion? I don't see how anyone could find this acceptable.

Well it's a 4 cylinder... i'm not quite sure what you expect? My first car was a cobalt and it would run at 3100 RPM at 75-80 mph as well lol. Not that they have any comparison, just saying.

Is 3200 high? Pretty sure most cars are designed for cruising speeds well below 80 and are optimized accordingly. Drive slower?

Yes there are taller gears available, especially for the 6MT. However the ROI isn't there for you to swap.

I was expecting lower rpms, maybe 2700. Thanks.

Your best option IMO is this.. RalliSpec 6MT Long Ratio Kit, but you'll need to get a six speed first, along with some other stuff.

Best option is to sell your 2014 and buy a 2015 with the longer gear ratios

yea it sucks but with a 4cyl its what happens. in my old 02' 1.7L v4 civic ex 5 speed MT it did 3900rpm at 80. in 5th what ever speed you were doing the rpms would basically be half the speed. so at 3200rpm (80mph) in my 12' wrx, i would be doing 64-ish mph in my civic. though, it was interesting in my father's same car except it had an auto, his rpms were a lower than mine in 5th but i forget by how much.
