    Transmission overfilled?

I drained and filled my 06 WRX 5MT transmission tonight. The liquid level on the dipstick is on the F instead of the circle in front of the F. Is this considered overfilled?

I did the same thing when I last replaced my transmission fluid. I cannot remember if I tried pulling some excess off with a syringe, though. In the end I may have had a bit too much oil anyway. I checked the dipstick after a drive to see if the oil was frothy (it wasn't appreciably frothy after a re-insertion of the stick for a proper level check) and things have been fine since.

It's a vented gearbox. I was taught this here. I'd not worry. Since there is no pump and lube is circulated by glorified splashing anyway I don't know if there would ever be frothing.

    Slight overfill is fine.
