2004 WRX Automatic Transmission metal on metal noise, only when letting off the gas

I just purchased 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX automatic with 118, 000 miles. There is a metal on metal clunking noise that only occurs when going about 25 mph and faster and only when I left off the accelerator. If I am accelerating there is no noise. The transmission shifts through all the gears fine and if it wasn't making an audible noise, I would know there was a problem. It is a fast clunking noise and sounds like it is coming from the front end almost directly behind the shifter. Do you guys have any ideas on what this might be or any ways that I may be able to narrow it down? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Also, I have checked all fluid level and verified that they are all correct.

It's snowing pretty good outside right now, I will your suggestions. I have had cars with rattling exhaust straps, but this sounds like a metal on metal grinding/clunking. I am pretty sure it has something to do with the transmission or the front differential.
