    Grinding shifting into 4th gear

    Hey I have a 2007 wrx with 30k miles. I went stage 2 5k miles ago.

So when I'm shifting from 3rd to 4th at about 5-6k rpm I hear a loud grinding putting it into 4th. This happens happens when I have the clutch in moving between shifter gates. This only happens when I'm hard on the gas at high RPM.

Do y'all know what could be doing this? I thought synchro but I don't think that makes sense

Wouldn't being hard on the gas and high rpm while shifting quickly be very hard in your syncros?

This happens when the clutch is in. from my knowledge it would not be the synchro.... Does it engage when the clutch is in or out?

Having the clutch in or out has no effect on synchro gear operation. A quick google search is in order as there are websites that can explain this better. I would think its your shifting (as described above) is the cause of your grind. Does it grind when your not giving it the beans while shifting?

What part of the shifting would do that? Just doing it quickly? And OK so its probably the synchro? I figured if it was a bad synrcho it would happen at all speeds. Also I have a KB short shifter with all bushings.

Sure sounds like a syncro to me. If it was all gears I would say get a new clutch.
