    Transmission issue

So im at about 42000 miles on my car. Just started having the issue where its hard to get into 1st and reverse, like you have to shift into another gear then back into 1st just to get it to go into gear. Drove it for awhile like this and now its kickin out of third sometimes while im driving, like shiftin from 2nd to third while i let out on the clutch. Any ideas on what this could be? And does anyone know of ways to upgrade transmission parts to withstand more power?

    Guessing you're not under warranty.

Only thing to really "upgrade" would be the gear sets with PPG gears. These aren't really known to be that weak of transmissions though...what mods are you running?

PPGs are an expensive choice. Don't bang your gears around. I'd try flushing your transmission fluid, that might help.

Mine's a PITA to get into first and reverse as well. It's been like since I got it. I have to sometimes pop it in reverse then release the clutch or somehow roll just a fraction so the gears are at a different spot so I can slide it into gear.

Did Extra-S dif fluid when I serviced everything a few months back. It helped but over all the gearbox is just a little clunky in reality. I am so freaking paranoid about it, it's on my mind every single time I drive the car. I'm 87.6% sure it's just paranoia from modding.

    Hope it's nothing!

    Cheers

I drive it kinda hard but nothing too bad. I only have an intake, tune and exhaust. So not like i have some crazy amount of hp lol. No warranty which sucks... And to make it worse im in italy so its gonna cost alot more to fix this issue. Ima try and get a short shifter, all new shift bushings and see if that helps any. Also when i look up what transmission fluid to use i keep finding a bunch of different types. What do you guys find best to use?

Extra-S, buy it bulk from a Suby dealer. It's cost effective and works well.

Not one of the "supported" fluids that Subaru agrees with. I've also seen stories of Royal Purple causing more grinding and poor syncing. As Zach said, Extra S or gtfo.
