    Extra-S costs HOW much!?

I called my dealer today after finally resigning myself to buying 5 gallons of Extra-S. The guy on the other end told me that it would cost around $300! I was under the impression that people had been buying them all day long for $150 or so, and he claimed that that was below cost, and there was no way he could do it. What gives? Have I been mistaken this whole time?

$15/quart sounds pretty damn steep to me.

Best prices I've seen for 5 gallon drums are $150 - $160, with $30-40 for shipping.

That sounds about right. I got 5Qts from Fred Beans for $15/Qt. Keep in mind that you only have to dump it every 30,000 miles so the cost isn't really too bad. The 5 gallon drums should be cheaper though as you're buying in bulk.

One would think so... These dealerships are out of their minds. Ah well, maybe I'll just do the cocktail thing. I wanted to do things the "right" way, but not badly enough to drop $300 for what realistically will amount to a gallon or so of fluid and a pretty door prop for my shed. Basta!
