From all the RWD conversions I've seen(not many) custom made pieces are used. Then again it shouldn't be too hard to make a plug.
Now your weak point is that rear diff, have fun!

Post some updates when you get this done. I'm VERY tempted to do this myself since I have almost no use for AWD 99% of the time.

Easy way is too just get a PPG rwd spool like muah.. And leave the stock crap in place you can make it awd again just by swapping in the center diff again..

    Thats the easiest way

Buy a proper RWD car. Your WRX is very nose-heavy, a design Subaru was forced to use to accommodate the Symmetric AWD. In other words, the entire motor is in front of the front axle. A proper RWD car will outhandle a RWD-converted WRX in EVERY way.

I doubt it would be that fun. You'd still be understeering like crazy, you'd just have snap oversteer rear its ugly head mid-plow... No thanks.

Alot of RWDs are nose heavy.. Also the subaru has a RWD tranny setup.. As in its not a transverse AWD which would be horrible to make rwd I agree.

However my reasoning wasnt to try to drift/road race/etc.. I just wanted a little more power to the ground with my setup.. Td04 and I beat my buds EVO VIII with intake, exhaust, tune.. Roll of course in mexico.. And I do agree a proper RWD setup is better if your doing the things your thinking about. But Since I dont really use the AWD in my car for any reason. I dont drive in the snow and I dont even drive my car in the rain/mud or road race.. The benefits of the AWD are not apparent to me. And I can always throw my diff back in..

Super fun time.. But I agree with your basic premise
