    Unhappy STS question - lateral play on SPT STS

    I had the dealer install my complete SPT 5ps STS today and there seems to be a megaton of lateral play when its in gear, is this normal?
    - 2013 Silver WRX Stage 2 Hatch - SPT and Cobb upgrades, Thule Snowboard racks

    Agreed, add some better shift linkage bushings. It really helped when I did. Its a piece of cake if you remove the heat shield and have the right tools. A few socket extensions and some swivel sockets are worth the investment if you don't have them already.

    I retract my statement, my firmer front &rear shifter bushings didn't reduce lateral play as much as I thought. I checked when I got out to the car and it still had a fair amount of play. For reference I do have the SPT STS. Perhaps some of the other shift linkage bushings would improve our situation. I'd still recommend you change your front and rear lower shift linkage bushings.

    Turn in Concepts makes shift linkage bushings. I'd also tell you to get the front & rear shifter stay bushings as they make a world of difference in shifter feel. The STS in itself will only shorten the throw.
