I usually have to put it in a forward gear, move the car a bit then it will go into reverse.

I always just do a double clutch pump and it pretty much goes right into gear. I also had changed to amsoil's tranny fluid at 2500 miles, which for some they claim it's not the best or this or that... i'm not here to argue that, but I will say that ... for me, it helped make the shifting much smoother... my friend has had his evo since 05 and also agreed, as did my Wife.... who never likes to agree with me.
