It wont work. I don't have to explain it you zax. I know, you know.

116fanatic: To swap an STi tranny into a WRX would require different driveshafts, differential, half shafts and shift linkage, etc, etc. Basically the entire drive line after the tranny. At that point you'd be getting close to the the price difference of an STi. Unless you're making an USDM STi wagon, that would be sweet.

    No, incorrect.

A 2002-2005 requires a 2006 STi transmission, half shafts, and 4EAT driveshaft. The R160, since it has a 3.9:1 F/D can be used with the STi transmission. The 2006,2007 WRX must replace the rear diff.

There are plenty of STi transmission swaps into WRXs. It's quite common in fact.

Bro...just get a new wife, and your WRX will work all the time. Also, not owning a Subaru is probably the best option.

I understand that, but how does that make the car hate you? You are implying that it will slow you down? It is a highly considerable upgrade for someone who couldn't afford an sti but now has some spare money. A friend of mine is doing the swap right now for $6k because his car is paid off

I think he means that if you just drop it in and try to go the car won't get far.. the transmission has to be correctly installed, bolted down, with all the hardware hooked up properly.
