Any of them will fit from 02-07. You just have to make sure you have the right rear differential because the final drive ratios aren't the same for all the different years.

The 5-speed WRX transmissions from 02-05 all have the same final drive and gear ratios as your 02 WRX transmission (and thus will bolt right in).

The 06-07's have a different final drive ratio.

I believe the axles are different as well. Or maybe my mind is still on my 6spd swap :-p

I thought the axles where different, but the ports where the same?

Edit: According to my favorite online autoparts store the 02-04 5-speeds have the half shafts that mount up to the spindle that goes in to the transmission.
The 05's have the half shaft with the spindle on both ends.

I can't verify the ports on the transmission it self is the same for all years, so until we figure that out CNJ1011 be on the look out for a 03-04 WRX 5-speed with low miles.

I know that the STI axles are shorter and require the different hubs. Of course doing a 6spd swap is a totally different beast and there about 10 different ways you can do it.

But I believe the 02-03 models have felmale axles. But you can buy adapters. I'm not 100% sure on this though. I'm trying to find the links I have that I used for information on doing a 6spd swap because they have all the information you could ever need on stuff like this. Unfortunately my Afghan internet is slower than molases going uphill with a headwind...

Edit: This is from a 6MT swap thread and has GREAT information on the different years drive trains.

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1412230

"Do I need different front axles?
02-early 04 WRXs have female axles and need to use stubs that go inside the tranny. Late 04-07 WRXs use male ended axles that slide inside the front differential so there is no need for stubs. For the female axles, you need axle stubs, circlips, and seals to reuse the WRX axles (check out the seal differences link for part numbers). You can use the stubs from your 5MT. For the male ended axles, they just slide right into place with the correct seals and circlips. 04 STi front axles will work too."

Edit #2: Here are some more helpful links. Again, they are all for a 6MT swap, but seeing as it's still relevant to your question, here ya go.
