^^^ not a crack... and I'm not saying you particularly. Just in general, we sometimes might smoke the clutch getting used to a new car, but not stating you specifically. Your case sounds like a mechanical problem instead.

So..... after starting this thread and another 20k on my 2nd clutch my clutch release bearing has faild. Squeaking terribly it went back to the dealer and is being fixed under warranty. I ask them to give me a call and let me know the condition of the clutch....

Bad news, only about 15-20% left. Hmm, so after 20k my clutch is failing again. I drive my car spiritedly at times but no launches or abuse.

I am coming to the conclusion that i will have to put in my own stage 2 clutch and flywheel. I cant believe an 09 car is built so poorly. Oh and dont get me started on the crappy paint!

    Not happy atm!

Wow, sounds like a Stage 2 clutch would be better for you.

I hear you on the paint. Most modern cars seem to have crappy, thin paint these days... I had my front bumper and sideview mirrors painted by a bodyshop and the resilence of that paint is far superior to the OEM paint job.

2009 WRX 9K miles - clutch is gone

Being replaced under warranty - received a lecture today from the Subaru rep about changing my driving habits. Driving habits my ass! I'm getting the Evo before the damn warranty runs out.

every brand has a different definition of "stages" or models.

"stages" are absolute horse crap in my opinion.

I think you got screwed.... It should've been covered under warranty... at least the first one. Go with an aftermarket clutch. I like my ACT Streetlight Flywheen and Superstreet clutch disk

You really got screwed. Did you take it to the dealer you bought it from? It really should have been covered at least the first time. The dealer i got my work done at was the same place i bought my car and they didnt even ask me any questions about launching, racing, etc. If this happens again with another part that you think should be under warranty contact SOA directly if the dealer tells you to pay up! You bought a new car... they should be keeping it in new condition as long as you have a warranty.

My 09 WRX has just over 34,000 miles on it.

Aside from perhaps the SPT catback exhaust, I haven't modified the car from stock power levels. I did, however, learn to drive manual transmission on this car (and I have driven "enthusiastically" for many of those 34k miles).

My stock clutch is working fine.

I don't doubt it's possible to get a "bad clutch" which goes right away, but I believe my case is proof that not all stock 09 clutches are garbage.

Of course I made a conscious effort to improve my shifting each and every day since I got the car, whether driving aggressively (er, enthusiastically ;-) or not.

Looked through my owners manual today and it says right in it that clutch plates, brake pads, shoes, lines, wiper blades were all covered under the 3 year 36000 mile warranty. Im getting new pads next week and i only have 16000 miles on it. Anyone else replace pads yet? What millage did you replace them at? Was it covered under warranty??

if you're replacing 2 clutches, and a pair of pads by the 16,000 mile mark... you need to look at your driving... I don't believe that pads and 2 clutches all could go in 16,000 miles on a car that's driven in a civil manner.

the first clutch was just a fluke... and ive only replaced 1 clutch! someone else replaced 2. my dealership had no explanation for me as to why it went. I DONT launch my car ever.

I know how to drive and i drive my car enthusiastically but some crappy shop just told me i failed inspection cause my brake pads are low... Im getting them checked by the dealer next week and if they are to low im getting them replaced. chances are it was just someone not knowing what the hell they are doing at the local place. If i pass inspection ill post the local places name so no one else has to go through the same thing.

You don't have to "launch" your car to burn up clutches. There are a lot of people out there that suck at driving a stick just during normal daily driving. If you suck, admit it, and have someone drive with you and point out what you're doing wrong. /sorry
