Hey Subaru world, I was hoping to get some input/help from you guys.
I have a project 2006 STi that’s in its final stage of being finished. All that I have left is to have it aligned (already drive it). I’ve been doing some research and it seems that a stock alignment isn’t always the way to go, and I’m just not sure which way to go with my setup.
A little bit about the car: 06 STi, buddy club coilovers with tein camber plates front and rear, Kaminari adjustable rear lateral links, cosmis MRII 18x10 +20 wheels with 285/30/18 hankook tires and perrin 20mm wheel spacers up front.
*Before I bought the car the STi was in an accident on the front passenger side. Looks like all the damage was repaired and everything checked out.*
I took my car to a place called “Alignment World” here in Portland to do an alignment and got these specs:
Front Left:
Camber: -3.3
Caster: 4.9
Toe: .01in
Front Right:
Camber: -3.2
Caster: 3.6
Toe: .01
Front Total Toe: .01 in
Front Total Steer Ahead: .01
Left Rear:
Camber: -2.7
Toe: .01 in
Right Rear:
Camber: -2.4
Toe: .03 in
Rear Total Toe: .04in
Rear Thrust Angle: -0.01
The guys at the alignment place told me this was the best they could adjust it to. They also told me that the only way to fix the caster on the front right is to replace the front control arm, or to pull it out (maybe something to do with the previous accident...) They also said they won’t be able to get the alignment right with such wide tires and spacers and that I need to go back down to stock, which I can do but I must admit that I don’t want to simply because I love the wheels and I want to go for the flared look. So here are my questions.
With a wheel setup like mine, what are the numbers that I should aim for on my alignment? Stock? Or is there something better for such wide tire?
Should I replace the control arm or go for the whiteline anti lift kit?
Should I replace anything at all and just take it to a shop that can pull it?
Are these tires truly too wide to have any sort of alignment done to them?
Also any suggestions/ ideas are welcome!
Thanks in advance everyone
