I've read the offset threads. Looking at the 530s in 17in what width and offset would be closest to stock? I don't want then sticking past the fenders..and I want to be able to use stock tires

What year car do you have? If you want to be stock-ish offset, then try and get around +50 offset. The tires don't really have much to do with the offset, but rather the width. So stick with a 7.5 to 8 inch wide wheel. This is advice for an 08+, and would change for a different generation car.

Take a look through this thread to get some ideas. Most people don't stick to stock offset. The OFFICIAL 2011/12 WRX wheel/tire thread

Find your year, see the offset and sizes. Compare.
