    Winter Tires

    Morning!
I have a 2012 WRX with factory rims. Live in southern Ohio. Looking for some good, effective, not over the top winter tires. And where is a good place to shop?
    THANKS!

Use the search function and type in "winter tires" there is a thread that I started (one of the only useful ones) that lists all of the popular combinations of tires and sizes.

I just recently purchased General Altimax Artic's 215/45/16 with steelies for my '13 WRX they are at a good price point from tirerack

Another popular tire is the Blizzak WS70

take a look at that thread

Widely regarded best on the market are Nokian Hakkapelittas. But I'm currently running the General Altimax Arctics on my 2014 hatch and they have been excellent so far. You'll sacrifice performance, but as a budget winter tire, those will not steer you wrong. Pun extremely intended. The guys on the forum recommended that tire to me.

I got mine locally, but usually if you bring in the TR price, local shops will match it if they have the tire.

I bought Continental Extreme Winter Contact DWS on Tirerack. It has worked very well the past 2 winters on my 2011 sedan. The best and more expensive are the Bridgeston Blizzaks and Nokian Hakaapellitas. General Altimax work well too and are cheaper compared to most listed.

Been doing research all day on them. General altimax arctic are nice, not too expensive, but sacrifice handling because of soft sidewalls. I will be getting the firestone winter force tires tomorrow, they are around the same as the altimax, little more aggressive tread for deep snow (avg about 20 ft/year where I live) but a bit cheaper. Coming down to it, the cheapest snow tire is better than the most expensive all season tire
