Need real information* 2012 WRX wheel+tire combo fitment.

I know this has been addressed previously but i cant seem to find all of the answers i need.

Here's the question, my wrx is close to 400bhp and its time for a new wheel set. Now i do want a wider wheel specifically for a wider tire however this is going to be done for performance and aesthetic reasons but mainly biased towards performance. It doesnt count if the car cant handle so what are my options? i want to stay with 18" but i need to know the pros and cons of the different width wheels.
