    Changing rim sizes

Hey all fellow Rex and subi drivers i'm new to wrx.net and just have a general question to put out. I have a 09 WRX HATCHBACK with 225/45/17 tyres on it. tyres are nearly due for a changeout so i'm thinking of upsizing to a 18 or 19 inch rim. Has anyone done this and did they fit neatly, any recommendations etc would be helpful.

    Cheers All Anthony

use 40 on 18s and the dreaded firm 35 on 19s. Should remain pretty close to the same overall diameter.

19's are too big and gaudy for a Subaru. 17's are the perfect size IMO. I would never choose anything else

You would be fine with 18's. Just don't make them too wide. As mentioned you would want to get them lower profile. 40's or 35's. Just watch your offset, you don't want it too low. Take a look through this thread for ideas.

Keep in mind tire costs. 17" wheels are more common, so more tires are sold in those sizes... so they're a lot cheaper than 18" tires. You'll also be sacrificing comfort going to 18" wheels / tires. The tires have less sidewall, and less sidewall flex, and the ride will be bumpier.

As well, if you live in an area that sees snow, and you will be changing between winter and summer tires.... It was nice to be able to have 245wide summers, and 225 wide winters on my 17x8 wheels. With a thinner sidewall, less tire sizes will fit the 18" wheel/tire combo that works correctly on the WRX.
