    Best Winter Tires?

Going to be picking up my new WRX in August and will need to purchase some winter kicks. What do you guys run and what would you recco? I'm in NJ and love to ski if that helps.

    Thanks in advance!

I'm not a fan of Blizzaks...I've found that they're pretty good for the first 1/3-1/2 tread, then they pretty much suck. I've ran multiple sets on multiple cars, and have since made the switch to Nokian, and plan to stay there.

    I have three recommendations...
    Budget: General Altimax Arctic
    Performance: Dunlop WinterSport 3D
    Baller: Nokian

The Generals are a very nice tire, especially for the price. For a bit better dry handling in colder temps, without really sacrificing much snow grip, the Dunlops are tough to beat. For all-out winter grip, look no further than Nokian (I run the Hakkapeliitta 7s).

I have been running the General Altimax Arctics (studded) for the last two years and they have done very well getting me to the ski areas. I am thinking of running one of the studless ice/snow tires when the General Altimax Arctics are worn out.

Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 if you want a friction tire or Nokian Hakkapeliitta 7 if its legal to run studded tires where you live... Nothing else compares.
