    I've patched a tire that was that was closer to the sidewall. Granted I had to go to a little shop in a middle of a questionable neighborhood and I replaced all 4 tires 1.5k miles later.

    But like everyone said, just replace the 1. You can have a difference of 2/32th I believe...

    If it cut the steel belt at all, you should replace it. They cut through tires like butter when compromised and give up. The problem is.... you can't really tell. That's why they recommend replacing the tire when close. I don't doubt some people have been fine. But I've seen for myself a tire that cut through it's sidewall when the inner belt was damaged, wouldn't be pretty at speed.
