245/40r17 Tires on OEM WRX 13' Wheels

My question I guess would 245/40r17 be more responsive than the original sized tires that came on my 2013 WRX(235/45r17)? Would this improve handling or hurt it?

Wider is better for handling unless you are at extremes - which you are not close to. Running those tires would provide a smaller sidewall (-0.3") and larger footprint (+0.4") ->depending on rim width...... The smaller sidewall would provide better turn-in/response; the wider footprint will provide more overall grip.

Now get some Direzza ZII or BFG Rivals while your at it

Thanks for the reply. I'd be running them on 17x8 wheels.
