Can I put 215/55R17's on my 2011 WRX Hatchback???

My 2011 WRX hatchback came with 235/45R17's. A buddy of mine has a brand new set of 215/55R17's that I can get for free. Does anyone know if that size will rub anywhere inside the wheel well?

I know it will slightly throw off the speedometer, and I'm okay with that.

    Thanks for any help!

uhhh....prolly not. Sorry I'm a little buzzed but rubbing against your fender I think is from an 18 inch rim. so you should be ok. But if you want a different sizedwidth you'll need a new rim along with a different offset to compensate

I've always used this calculator for comparing tire sizes.

Tire Size Calculator - tire & wheel plus sizing

I threw those numbers into it, and I would not advise using the 215/55-17 size tire. You can have a look and decide for yourself though.

That is a bit big. I ran 215/50/17's and they fit just perfect.

Yeah, I don't think I'm going to put them on. My rim size is not ideal for that tire anyway. Thanks for the feedback. The funny thing is I work for Goodyear Tire, so you'd think I would know. But upsizing & downsizing on tires is not an exact science.

Why do you want to limit the contact patch? Not advisable to use that smaller size.
