^^^ Actually, there are quite a few guys out there building rally cars that want smaller brakes to use smaller wheels.

I just did all this research.... hours of it.... and it's all correct... although there is some missing info. I'm upgrading to a Rotora BBK in the front, and rear brembos on my 06 WRX.... in under 2 weeks

02-07 WRXs and STI front brakers are interchangable. The brakes all have the exact same mounting holes. Obviously you will need 04STI rotors, or 05-07 STI rotors redrilled to the 5x100 pattern

There are a couple options to deal with the e-brake in the rear.

    1) The DBA 2657 rotor will match the rotor hat to your 170mm parking brake. (The STI has a 190mm parking brake)... but it will also maintain the same outer diameter as the STI rotors, so you can mount rear brembos.

    2) Godspeed UK sells "extended" parking brake shoes... so you can use stock STI rear rotors (5x100 obviously), but your OEM parking brake will "grab" the inside of the larger rotor hat. I have read about issues with these not working all that well though... so beware.

    3) Use stock STI rotors.... and wheel chocks when you park.

Just another little tidbit. The 2002-2005 WRXs have different rear hubs than the 06-07 WRXs. Even if you do buy the DBA rotors, or the Godspeed shoes, you will still need to run an adapter bracket to mount the brembos on the rear.

06-07 WRX and STI rear brakes are interchangable and do not require said bracket. So, even if you decide to go the "cheaper" route and buy the 06-07 WRX red 4/2 pots, you will still need the adapter bracket, although no special rotors will be required, just stock 06-07 WRX rotors.... so you'll save money on the calipers, and the rotors.

You can also run 06-07 red 4/2 pots underneath the stock 16' 02-05 WRX wheels (with a 5mm spacer). That won't happen with Brembos.

    Hope this helps.... Good luck.

Yes.... but you need a couple things.

To bolt up rear STI brembos to an 02-05 WRX, you need:

    1) The adapter bracket (Kartboy sells them)
    2) DBA 2657 rotors

^^^ That would be the right way to do it.

    You could also buy:
    1) The adapter bracket
    2) Godspeed UK oversized e-brake shoes
    3) Stock 04 STI rotors, or 05-07 STI rotors redrilled to 5x100

^^^ That would be the "cheaper", less effective way to do it

    You could also buy:
    1) The adapter bracket
    2) Stock 04 STI rotors (or redrilled)
    3) Not have an emergency brake

^^^ That would be the ghetto way to do it.

Oh yea...... and brembo calipers... you'll need those too

fastwrx sells the brackets too..... but fastwrx is just about the most rediculously expensive parts supplier on the planet:

Rear Brembo Adapter Kit (02-05 WRX) - Brakes

    Here's the kartboy ones:

I'll post on my progress thread when I get the front BBK, and the rear brembos home, the teardown, the powdercoating... and the rebuild of all the calipers (if necessary)

DBA rotors suck?? God no.... they are some of the best you can buy. They ought to be for what they cost. Unfortunately, they are the only company that makes one that adapts STI rear brembos to a WRX hub properly.

I know this is a REALLY old thread but, I have a question about the STi side of this swap (going from STi Brembos to Red 4Pots on my 06 STi rallycross car so I can run smaller wheels)

Can I just run red 4 pots up front and the stock brembo rear calipers? If so, what rotors up front? Will the stock STi rotors be fine, just using less surface area than it would with a brembo caliper?

Yes, you can run the 4-pots up front and brembos in the rear to fit smaller wheels.

You will need 06-07 WRX front rotors, but you will have to have them redrilled to 5x114. To the best of my knowledge, they do not make a 5x114 rotor designed to fit front 4-pots.

Thanks for the confirm, Vermont Sports Car actually does make them now! They're pricey but BOOM! haha

Vermont SportsCar Designed Performance Friction Group N STi Front Brake Rotors

I just took delivery of a set of red USDM WRX calipers that are about a week away from getting stripped and powder coated to match the rear brembos (woot! and maybe). I might go with a blue or white powder coat because I can do that for free vs $75 for the gold.

    Thanks again!
