Why is wheel offset important? Wheels using improper offsets can cause damage or accelerated wear on suspension components or body panels. Correct Impreza wheel offsets are:
    Width ........ Offset

    6.5" ....... +53 to +55
    7.0" ....... +50 to +53
    7.5" ....... +47 to +50
    8.0" ....... +43 to +47

If your wheel width and offset is within this chart or close (+/- 2mm), your wheels have the proper offset.

Ok, i'm pulling this one back from the dead... a little. Recently I have been looking for a bit lighter auto-x rim and located the old bbs's.... 48 offset 17x7. Anywho..... they will not fit mine without spacers. Can someone help w/what size spacer I will need before I go spend more money on them...? Also, are longer wheel studs needed for 5mm placement?

I appreciate the help and pardon the threadjack.....

    edit: 55 offset on the 06-07 wrx ? so I need 7mm???

Spacers lower offsets, it doesn't raise them. I'm not a fan of spacers, but I wouldn't go over 3mm without new studs.

Taking that into account and the fact that they are only 7" wide, you may want to look into different wheels for auto-x.

If you're using them for autoX...

My personal preference would be the Enkei RPF-1. They can be had for under a grand after shipping for all four wheels, they are 17x8 with 3 choices for offset, and incredibly enough they weigh 15.6lbs!!! They are the lightest single piece cast wheel on the market.

The ones I picked up are 16.2 lbs.... I'm not a fan of getting wider rims.... takes away from your driving skills if you ask me. Spoke to Mike (Big Sky) he stated the same... try the 2mm, then the 3mm (new studs aren't needed) if I go up to 5mm, studs are needed. If the 3mm don't work, i will sell them I guess. Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated.
