    tires for 17x7.5 Motegis

I have an 02 WRX and just got some 17x7.5 Motegi wheels. I dont know much about tires honestly and so I was wanting some feedback on what to get. First, what size and dimention tires and then what brands would fit my needs. I will have an 18g turbo upgrade with over 300awhp and would like something with good grip and handling characteristics. They need to perform well in wet conditions and will be used for everyday driving. Im not rich, so nothing crazy expensive though. Someone educate me please.

After doing some more research, I'm thinking about 225/45/17 tires. Is there a noticeable difference between these and the 235's? and what about 225/45 vs 225/40? Also still wondering what would be good all weather tires on a budget. So far these look like they fit my needs:

    Bridgestone Potenza RE050a Pole Position
    Direzza star spec
    Toyo Proxes4

any comments on these or any other votes? This will be my first set of new tires on the WRX so I dont have a clue about the pros and cons of all the tires being discussed in other threads.

    Get a 225/45/17, or maybe a 235/40/17.

For a street tire I'd get a Falken FK452. The Dunlop Direzza would also be a great tire, but it will wear rather quickly and the ride may be a bit harsh as it has a very stiff side wall.

ya I dont know too much either.

Any other recomendations? I do agree that they should wear down slowly since its for semi-daily driving.

225/45/17 would probably be the best choice for a daily driver on 17x7.5's

there are a couple of recent tire threads- worth looking through them

I ran this tire and was impressed w/ both wet/dry grip as well as wear (mind you these are a max summer tire- so they aren't going to last forever )

on closeout as well w/ good pricing

I had the goodyear f1's put on about 700 miles ago and they are great. I just have to make sure that I don't burn them up to quick.lol When I bought the car a month ago it had toyo proxes4's that I didn't care for. reson being that after romping on them I had one blowout while driving on the highway And the blowout happened on the inside sidewall. The only thing with the f1's is that they are $160 each. I had a friend recomend bfgoodrich all-seasons for about $150 mounted at his work. Size to go for is 225/45/17.
