How to: STI wheel into WRX

This is for those putting an 04 USDM STI steering wheel into a 02 WRX, may be the same for all WRX's but not sure. The following info shows how to keep the STI cruise control switch rather then getting rid of it.

First the pictures, then I will give a walk through for each picture.

This first pic shows the final setup I came to with the wiring on the wheel.

This next pic has two sections that I have separated with the photoshop paintbrush .

Section 1 is the original 02 WRX wires for the cruise control etc.

Section 2 is the original wires for the 04 STI

Now, as you can see in the pic, section one has a male/female plug, with the male being white and female being black.

On the 04 STI the plug (its green) is different to incorporate the button for turning on the cruise control, so it has two extra wires.

If you look at the wires going into the STI plug, and the wires going into the female/black plug of the WRX, you will see that three of the wires are the same colors etc. These three wires are for the cruise control operations. Then there are two leftover wires that do not match up to anything, and if you follow them back to the source, they are used to turn on the cruise control(which you dont need).

Take the three wires that match up on the STI and WRX plugs, cut the plug off the wires for the STI, then chop the plug from the wires on the WRX. Make sure to keep a good amount of wire for the WRX plug, because you will be souldering the wires from the STI to the wires leading up to the WRX plug(the black one)

    Then thats it.

This picture is of the airbag, and the wire for it. My STI wheel didn't come with the wires for it, so I swapped the setup from my WRX wheel, into the STI wheel so that I could retain the WRX wiring.

    Heres the pic
