Arrow VF22 On The Way ! Should Deadbolt Port And Polish It Or Not ?

I bought a VF22 for my STI Saturday . I wanted a bigger turbo but wanted keep the cost down . Anything bigger than a VF22 is twice the price ! . Plus I sold my VF39 for $575 and bought the VF22 for $630 shipped from XXTuning ! My goal is 375 HP @ the wheels . Sounds a little far fetched , I know BUT I will try it anyways since nobody has tried it on a STI with that turbo . here are what the supporting mods will be ....................
VF22
PE 850cc Injectors
Walboro 255 lph Fuel Pump
Engine Managment
APS 650 Front Mount Intercooler
ACT Clutch
Perrin Crank Pulley
Blitz SUS Intake
Invidia Exhaust
Invidia Downpipe
Greddy Boost controller
Lots Of Dyn Time
So anyway ! I was going to ship my VF22 to deadbolt enterprises to have a monster Port and Polish done ! BUT a tunning shop had told me that they did a before and after with a VF22 on a wrx and lost some horse power and lost alot of torque ! This scares me ! What do I do ? Has anyone done a before and after dyno run with a Monster Port abd Polish from Deadbolt Enterprises ? I need al the power I can get but $200 for a port and polish couls be money spent on ther mods if it will no benifit me ! I can port my own wastegate . I have done it on my VF39 and it worked wonders on the car ! So please help me decide ! I dont know what to do ?

p.s. I have already hit 277 HP @ the wheels with the mods in my sig . The goal is 100 more HP @ the wheels with the VF22 and mods listed above . If I cant do it then at least the mods are there to support a bigger turbo that is capable of more than 375 !

Have him thermally coat the exhaust side while he's at it.

I suppose that was a "yes" to your question.

Good luck reaching your goal!

No way in Oz will that VF22 give you 375. IN fact I sincerely doubt it will give you more than 340 whp and that is with ALL the bolt ons and full tuning. You'll need an exhaust manifold and a FMIC upgrade as well as larger injectors and fuel management to get there. Stock injectors are at 100% at 320 whp or so on stock turbo. I am working on a Spec R turbo that will be good to around 400 whp or so. Should be ready this summer. Right now I have just been making them custom with a GT30R turbo. You'll also need a larger MAF pipe don't forget. I'm making a 4 inch unit that should work very well with the 850cc injectors. I can post pics this week before leaving on vacation of the GT30R. The GT35R kit will be reasy when I get back from vacation for you serious guys.

DR650 and 850cc injectors are way overkill for that turbo.

What engine management?

I use E-Manage. We are making a GT30R kit right now for a customer. It requires the GT Spec manifold (which will also be included in our GT35R package). It comes with new GT SPec manifold with modified uppipe, new downpipe, and new inlet and outlet pipes as well as all the lines. An APS FMIC is required on either kit. It is obviously a lot more expensive than your VF22. THe turbo alone is $1200. I believe it wil be priced at around $3000 or so but I really am not making this kit since we will be releasing the bolt on GT30R (SPec R) turbo in early summer anyway. I can make one for you if you wanted.

i always hear good things about dead bolts monster port and polish jobs. people are saying on nasioc that its worth about 10-15 more hp and torque. also saying the turbo spools about 300-400 rpm sooner. im hoping to get a vf-22 soon and have it ported and polished.

dizastical,

are you considering any internal upgrades for your 375awhp goal? or do you think the internals will be able to hold up and be reliable?

sti as is (invidia turbo back , blitz intake , boost controller @ 16.5) 277 hp
vf22 30 hp
port and polish 10 hp
gt spec header 20 hp
ecu 30 hp
perrin crank pulley 5 hp
avo full inlet pipe 5 hp
All of these mods equal 100 hp more than I have now . Even if you are conservative with the numbers I should be able to get about 75 more HP @ the wheels to get 350 overall ! Does this seem possible ? This does not even include a FMIC which should be good for a few more ponies . Any thoughts ?

I've seen pics of his "monster" ports, but NO one has ever done a before and after dyno to show any gains. Most people say that they don't get boost creep, so I guess if nothing else, you get that for $200 and your trouble of taking it off, shipping, and re-installing it.
