    It is going to be a lot louder with an aftermarket up and down pipe. Do you have a catback? Also, remember to get a tune for the modifications you have put on.

    You installed a DP and Up pipe without a tune? Your backfire is loud because you're damaging your car.
    I have an STi with an intake and no tune, I never change my oil, and my wheel spacerz are mad tyte.

    Your not doing yourself any favors driving around waiting to tune.

    Anyway you are experiencing afterfire. If you got a back fire you'd after fire in your pants because it typically sends a fireball up the intake. It is more common without cats, but you shouldn't be getting it excessively

    some of us older guys get fireballs up the intake and out the exhaust at the same time as parts wear out

    OTS map does not support a catless DP. You need a pro-tune. Stop driving until then, otherwise, see my avitar...
