Differences between 05 and 06 STi

Hey dumb question, what is that little light right next to the main headlight, it doesn't seem to do much (it's lit day and night). Is it there for looks?

You mean the one with the cone shaped lens over it? Yeah...just for looks. I kind of like it with just the "pimp" lights on.

Dont forget the rear undertail diffuser, which has to be modified or removed for an Aftermarket exhaust.

I'm not sure if you want to add this or not, maybe make another heading for "Performance" but in the new Motortrend they compare the 06 EVO MR vs. the 06 STI (BTW the STI wins

). But the STI posted an imprezive 0-60 in 4.5 seconds, and the 1/4 in 13 seconds flat. When they tested the '05 STI they recorded a 0-60 of 4.7, and 1/4 of 13.3. I'm guessing the difference is due to the new tranny? But I know there are 04's out there that have pulled 12.9's but haven't seen any of those numbers recorded in any magazines.

Yeah, I read the same article. I've been keeping performance data out of the mix due to the fact that it is so driver/track/weather dependant.

My bet on the improved times are a combo of the new front diff and the time of year they did the testing (plus a pretty good driver!)

what new tranny??same tranny, same engine. just better driver i bet.

on a side note..its all driver. People did 12's already at a drag strip with evo9.(idk if thats with or without launch control)

I guess I shouldn't have worded it that way, it's has a new center diff that reacts quicker.

Not anymore, the exhausts made by cobb and turboXS fit the sti with the diffuser in place, you wont need to modify it.

Motor Trend also mention the fact that when they tested the 05 STi it wasn't broken in yet and really needs the 3000 miles to loosen it up.

I love the '06 STi but I have one complaint about it; the designer from Alfa Romeo should have left his Alfa designs, with Alfa Romeo. This isn't SubaRomeo you know.

I think this is part of the "parking lights" along with the corners and tails. Have to check my manual but I thought that's what I read...
