    New owner in San Diego

    What's up, fallaz?

My name is Ray and I am a proud new owner of a 2012 WRX hatch. I've had the car for 3 days and my Invidia Q300 turbo-back exhaust has been installed and a Cobb Short shifter is on order. I was a owner of a 2005 Stage 2 Neon SRT4. I went from having countless problems with that to a Mazda RX8. I got sick of lack of power and zero torque. The RX8 handled like a dream through the mountains, but struggled to climb to elevation. I test drove a WRX and instantly handed my keys to the RX8 and exchanged them for the keys to the WRX. I couldn't be happier. The Invidia exhaust sounds beautiful. Not too loud but has that crisp Subaru sound. I can't wait to install my Short Shifter. I also ordered the Prothane shifter bushing kit. Can't wait for further mods.

No tune yet. I was under the impression that a tune was only needed with an intake. I'm used to working on my SRT4 and the staged pcm's only mattered with increasing boost and pumping more air in the system. I'm still new to the Subaru and it's path for upgrades.

Run a vacuum line from the compressor housing to the wastegate actuator, bypassing the BCS completely (just mark which lines go to which so you can replace later) until you get a tune. Otherwise, replace the aftermarket DP with your stock one.

Is there a "how to" for this so I can see exactly where it goes?

It will be similar to this:

However, that's an older model turbo, and it will look slightly different.

You'll see that the connection between the compressor housing and the actuator are T'd off with a line that goes to your BCS. You'll want to mark each side down, since there's a restrictor pill between the T and the compressor housing. Just run a vacuum line directly between the two, and cap off the lines so there isn't a vacuum leak (easiest way would be to put "condoms" on the T fitting and set the lines aside with markings for which line/side goes where).
