Sorry guys, can't make it this weekend. I'm working in San Diego right now (14hr so far) and prolly won't finish until 1am!!!

    *** EL MIRAGE UPDATE ***

So on my way back, I stopped at El Mirage again. Luckily, the lake bed was open and I tested it out. It's as smooth as pavement out there. The ground is very firm and my all seasons gripped very well. In fact, I attempted some donuts and all I heard was screeching. It dug a small trench in the dirt but didn't feel slippery at all. Since I'm pretty respectful of the "Tread Lightly" concept, I didn't want to do anymore damage to the lake. We can do all the donuts we want just outside the shore.

I pegged my gauge to 140+ mph and sustained it for about 6secs before I wimped out. I'm sure if we picked out a good line, we can make good use of the lakebed (Top Speed Challenge anyone?). There are some spots with water erosion (read: speed bumps), but that was closer to the edge of the lake bed.

To get ballsy, I was going about 65mph and started to pitch the wheel around to test the traction. It slid a tad, so even with my stockers, I doubt things can get dangerous or life threatening.

When driving at high speeds, I heard little gravel & other debris kicking up against the body. So those of you w/o mudflaps, don't worry. But if you're sporting the Rubbermaids, you can avoid turning your Rex into a dustball.

On the way back, I was thinking about some small events we can have: Top speed challenge, drag races, slalom (need to find cones). One guy in our Xterra club had a gigantic inflatable soccer ball (8ft in diameter) and we would use our Xterras to pass it around on the beach, FUN AS HELL!

    Enough babbling

i just checked my compression and i got
    cylinder 1 ~ 150
    cylinder 2 ~ 150
    cylinder 3 ~ 150
    cylinder 4 ~ 110

the spark plug for cylinder 4 was super clean and looked new while the others (1,2,3) had the normal wear on them.

time to start looking into getting a new block since building my current one would need lots of work. any suggestions? crawford? custom build it? im thinking of keeping it 2.0 since i would need lots of other mods to support 2.5 i.e. heads, porting etc.

hmm what would cause that? a bad ring....i say do a 2.2 block since it's the strongest or put the 2.0 on steroids cuz either way i'm sure you'll turn out with a nice motor and we will all

or an omg pricey 2.6 stroker motor
