    Another Subie!

I usually try to pass by the lakefront on weekends to see if anyone is around.

The guys and gals at NOLARides.com hang out by Joe's Crab shack on Sun after 6 or 7 PM.

I try to get out there too if I can get off of work early.

Anybody going to the night auto-x at Lamar-Dixon this Sat?

I am thinking about testing out all the goodies I now have on the wangon!

I think some of the NOLARides people will be convoying also.

    later,
    chad

I think I'm gonna go, as well as a few freinds.

How out of place would a 3.5 liter V6 Altima with an auto be?
That's what one of my freinds has. It's plenty fast on the straights, but pushes through turns horribly and has that stupid traction control that applies the brake on a slipping wheel.

    Thumbs up

It would be no more out of place than the1980'sish LeBaron convertible that arrived for my first driver training a few years ago.

As they say at cheerleader camp, "Bring it!". (Sorry, had to do it.)

It would be good to check out the CENLA SCCA site for info on pre-registration and rules for the event. There are some additional rules since it is at night.

I've never been to an autocross event, even as a spectator. Neither have any of my freinds who should be there.

Here's the vehicle lineup (All are totally stock):
    WRX Wagon (definite)
    3.5L Altima (definite)
    Escort ZX2 (definite)
    Turbo-S Beetle (maybe)
    RSX Type-S (maybe)

We'll all be running in the novice class.

I've read over the rules and I don't think any of those will be a problem.

    What should I expect?
How many timed runs should we expect to get in?
    How many "fun" runs?
Are the loaner helmets from the club pretty nasty?
Will this event be pretty busy since it's at night?

We're planning on getting there between 5:30 and 6:00. Should that be OK?

I plan on bringing the basics: Shoe polish (for #s), small air compressor, maybe a few hand tools. Anything else I should bring?

Sorry for all of the questions.

I haven't been to an auto-x for a year or so, but....

You should expect 3-4 runs depending on the course and driver turn out. I think that driver turnout is also the most important factor for fun runs (fewer drivers=more time at the end to play).

I don't recall any "nasty" helmets but it is August.

Yes, it should probably be busy since it is at night. Go here for a list of drivers and classes. You can and should use this site to pre-register you and your friends. Pre-reg. will really help speed up the process.

I think that you will need better numbers than what shoe polish will provide. They usually have numbers on paper that you can tape on to your car. Use the shoe polish on your wheels.

I would also suggest bringing food and lots of water in an ice chest.

Check this site for more info and join up if you like.

Ask ?s in the above forum too, as there are more experienced people that can tell you more than I can.

    Hope this helps.

    PS I have a black '02 wagon.

    Oh! Where are you?

I will be leaving the West Bank that afternoon, and I may join a convoy of local drivers from NOLARides.com.

If your in BR you might want to check out sportsandimports.com if you don't know about it. They should be talking about he event.

You put the polish on the sides of you tire. This helps you adjust your tire pressures by letting you know if the tire is rolling over onto the side wall.

Check this out for more helpful info.

I think I saw you in Denham Springs getting on the interstate around 7:30 AM a couple of weeks ago. See my other post in this forum.

Silver REX sighting in Denham Springs, LA

You pulled past everyone in the "go straight" lane then made a right turn in front of everybody. If that was you, nice move, a**hole ;-)

I drove w/ you for a little while, but I was in my Jeep, so you probably didn't notice me. Maroonish red, 33" tires, small suspension lift.

What exhaust do you have? Stealthback (or simmilar), w/ stock axle back? It sounded pretty mean without being obnoxious, but still looked stock.

Who did your tint? It looked good from what I could see. Did whoever did it use a single piece on the rear window?
I need to get my wagon done.
