Lol, eventually I'll go take some. I'm recovering from the ~20 hour round trip I started Friday night, so long drive and2 days of no sleep. Feeling rough.

I'm guessing it came up in a search or a list of related threads, and he was simply responding to the question asked in the title, without regard for dates, other posts, etc. Happens quite often, around here!

Welp, time to start a new thread: "Contemplating jumping from an 06 STI to an 07 STI. Thoughts?"
Glad you found something! Power steering belt usually just needs replacement or tightening. I've heard it happen quite a bit in 06-07 STIs actually.
And for the record...the 07 STI isn't "the fastest" of the STIs. It has the same engine and everything as all the other same generation STIs. The turbo is "different" but it still flows the same as a VF39. The 07 VF43 only has a larger internal wastegate opening to combat boost creep. The factory tune is actually the most poor (dangerously lean actually) out of all STIs. What he could have meant is that the 07 STI's transmission is geared a little better, and allows for a 4 gear run and trap in 4th gear in a quarter mile, which won't pertain to you obviously. The 07 had longer 2, 3 and 4 gears compared to the 04-06 STIs which trap as you shift into 5th gear.

Kinda figured that's the case Ray, with the dudes all of 5 posts, WAY too much of that going on nowadays.
Lol, that's not happening Mikie. I remember the gear ratio differences, definitely seems better for my purpose.

I was so damned confused because I read this as "Minus the black one." Then I would go up a few posts and confirm that I saw you say you preferred the hawkeye to the blob. Then I scrolled down and again read it as "minus." Stoopid tendinitis keeping me up all night, I blame that!
Congrats man!

Nice pick up! First STI I ever test drove back in late 2006 when I was searching was a black 2007 Hawkeye STI. I have a soft spot for them.
Can't wait to see the off-road mods!

Nice. Oh, and I forgot to mention that this car has been a southern car it's whole life; El Paso, TX to somewhere in AZ to Huntsville, AL, to Austin, TX area, and finally back to El Paso with me.
Soon, just gotta take care of the air that's getting in the power steering issue. I'll probably go the same type of lift again, just will have to get a second of struts to revalve when I do. And downgrade the brakes to some gravels. Gotta fit my Braids on this bitch.
Eek, sorry to hear that.
