    Front differential(?) replacement

2003, 107xxx miles, showing all signs of a problem with front or center differential. On a scale of 1-10, how hard is it to tackle this myself, replacing the differential? If there's already a tutorial on this, I can't find it.

Are you having trouble with the Front Diff or the Center Diff? Pictured here in the lower right hand side is the front diff, as you can see the transmission case needs to come apart to get at it.

The Center diff is located (not pictured) left of the gears, and is easier to get at.

Edit: Here is some information on the center diff.

Problems are: grinding under car only correlating to how fast the wheels are turning and binding/resistance with a clunk while turning at slow speeds. Am I wrong about the differential? viscus coupler?
Had a new transmission installed so I've managed to rule that out.
