well no one has really explained the "why" so here goes: the clay takes everything, everything off the paint. meaning there is no protection at all. no, its not going to peel off, but you may get dirt embedded into the paint pretty good if you dont wax it soon enough. if it gets embedded deep enough it can be a real pain to get out. worse, you could even get tree sap or bird doo on the car which can stain permanently.
but if you get caught in that situation where you just dont have the time, then dont worry; just rewash the car as soon as you can, i'd hit the front bumper and maybe the hood and mirrors with the clay bar again real quick, then wax away :thumbup:
