Yes, you can take them out, but no you can't drive like that. It will burn up the center diff.

You have to make it so the center diff doesn't try to send power to the front.

That seems pretty awesome. Keep a spare diff laying around and toss it on in the summer, then swap it out for the origional center differential in the winter to go back the forth.

Everything dealing with driving the rear wheels will see double the tq.

Why even bother to get an AWD when you don't want it.... Get a supra or rx-7 instead.....

no thats why i am saying make one...

Swaping the tranny is way harder than changing the center diff, especialy on a subaru.

Wait you would rather design yourself a whole new tranny, source the parts for it, find some gears, then test the thing to make sure it works somewhat well, and change the entire tranny out when you feel like changing. Rather then just welding a few disc together in a spare center diff and throwing it on?
