is it possible just to take out the front axles in a wrx. if anyone has done it tell me cause im thinking about it.

Yes, you can take them out, but no you can't drive like that. It will burn up the center diff.Originally posted by 1wrx4u2c

You have to make it so the center diff doesn't try to send power to the front.

That seems pretty awesome. Keep a spare diff laying around and toss it on in the summer, then swap it out for the origional center differential in the winter to go back the forth.![]()
I would be concerned with the huge amounts of load you will be exerting on the output shaft now...

Why even bother to get an AWD when you don't want it.... Get a supra or rx-7 instead.....

why not just get a spare tranny... get rid of the front and center diff... make it a real RWD...

Swaping the tranny is way harder than changing the center diff, especialy on a subaru.
and he pretty much is making his own rwd tranny
Wait you would rather design yourself a whole new tranny, source the parts for it, find some gears, then test the thing to make sure it works somewhat well, and change the entire tranny out when you feel like changing. Rather then just welding a few disc together in a spare center diff and throwing it on?
