    No. By gasket matching the exhaust manifold it creates a bigger inlet than the head exhaust port outlet. So when back pressure is high it keeps exhaust gas from going back into the ports by creating resistance due to the size difference. If you remove the exhaust manifold and look at the carbon outline left when you remove the gaskets you will see how big the gasket holes are compared to the actual inlet and outlets. You can see the size difference between the gasket and head exhaust ports. I don't open the whole exhaust runner this size,just the inlet to create the step. I still want to keep velocity up.

    In all honestly it depends on your set up. Big cams with high flowing heads and big turbos want high end power. That equals bigger primaries. It's the same rules as picking a header. Optimium flow is impssoble to do for every single persons setup unless you custom do every single manifold,which honestly no one does. That why you have a so many headers to choose from. The simple step I produce is more than adequate compared to what was stock,none.

    Basicly. I generally open up the runners by 1-2mm. This isn't something I flowbench and spent months researching. It's just from simple porting concepts. By just trying to get the runners smooth this is about how much material from the walls is removed. Smaller primaries keep spool fast and velocity high at lower speeds. Big primaries move more gases and are less restrictive at higher rpms. I concentrate on keeping the primaries smaller.

    And you're running an 18G right? I ask because on my 20G, my train doesn't really start moving until 4k+.

    I'm actually running a Blouch TD05H-16G-XT now. Basically the same thing as an 18G. So at what rpm do you hit full boost in 3rd gear?

    According to my latest log, my WGDC% hit its peak value starting at 3968, but it is pretty close by 3680.
