catless up-pipe?? and did you see any gains with the STi up-pipe compared to the WRX stock up-pipe?

Yeah it's catless. I never installed it because I started thinking I might just want an STI instead of modding my WRX. I bought it for 3 reasons:

    1. The pre-cat in the stock up-pipe in a WRX is prone to breakdown and if it does then you can most likely kiss your turbo goodbye. Certainly if you plan on modding it's a good precautionary measure.

    2. Spool time is reduced. From what I've read from others who have done the mod, full boost occurs anywhere from 250-500 rpms sooner.

    3. Power and sound. It's not a big power mod but you're freeing up flow to the turbo and you're looking at about 10hp increase. That and it sounds great. You can really hear the turbo spool a lot better with a catless up pipe. I think that is almost worth the trouble by itself.

Being that it's unmarried, would it work for an 02 wrx? If it does, I'm interested.

I'm pretty sure it won't. Being as they're both the 2.0l it's possible Cobb could reprogram it for you but you'd need to ask them about that because I'm not sure. Out of the box though, no you won't be able to use it.

And yet another "definite" buyer for the AP bounces out of the deal at the last minute. Back to the top we go.

PegGrinder, do you need a tune to run the uppipe? I may be interested to have it on hand for when I upgrade my exhaust in the future. Cobb's notes don't really describe uppipe requirements in Stage 2.

No, you do not need a tune.

De-cat of the UP should be your first power mod
