Thinking about buying a High Mileage Rex

I have my eye on a MY02 WRB sedan, has 185K on the Odo.
Did all the ground level check, and all seems good. they did wash and put that stupid shiny armorall like crap all over the engine bay.

Has no signs of after market parts and no tell tale abuse signs.

My concern is when driving in the lower gears when the clutch is released it will feel a lil juddery. cant feel anything in the pedal...and the pedal feels very good!

It also doesnt come onto boost as hard as other WRX ive driven. I don't hear any hissing or boost leak sounds. Battery is OEM Subaru, but has had aftermarket Stereo hooked up, and the pos plastic cover was pulled back...codes reset?

I have alot of mechanical experience prof and Hobby, so i will check as mush out as i can will need to find a OBD2 reader, and get it on my lift.

Should i look further into it or search for soemthign better?

Price is $7,998 and its been on the lot for a bit so i bet i could maybe do $7k even.

    VIN is JF1GD29692G525323

    Thanks all!

I would NEVER pay 8k for something wit that many miles, I couldnt justify it, not even at 5k. My 2 cents...

Yeah, that price does seem kinda steep for something been driven so much, abused or not. It might be a good start if you want to rebuild it into something awesome, but only if you can negotiate the price down, a lot.

cool. just what i wanted to hear!

If i can talk it to under $5k i will totaly do it! just re-build the motor and change out the turbo. the trans itself feels great! will need to get oil samples though before deciding.

I am going to def be driving the car the way its meant to so no point in getting something ultra expensive, and i can fix anything that breaks.

As long as you're comfortable doing all that work and you feel it would be a good investment, im new to this world of wrx's.. I know a lot more about mustangs so my "okay" probably isn't the only one you're going to need, sorry. I only spoke up because mustangs are abused 99.9% of the time like wrx's.

But to me, it sounds like a good idea.

WOW! That is some high mileage there. If you are confident with your mechanic skills, can do all work yourself and can purchase the car for near $5K i would say go for it... so long as the engine is the only thing that is going to be redone. If more needs to be replaced or if you are planning on redoing more i would keep a strong eye out for a different rex. Personally i would never buy a car with 185000 miles to use as a daily driver, but that is just me.

My 2 current cars probally have well over 300k on them each. (70's VW's).

I also am a firm believer that just because a car has high miles doesn't mean it needs to be abandoned. that is happening to way too many cars today.

Once i get the thing in the air i will really know what state its in.

it is still there... gives me even more price leverage now! Just need to find time to get them to let me take it to check it out!

Anybody know if there are any laws the used car dealership must go by about pre purchase inspections?

My apologies. I forgot to edit that post. I was going to remove it but I forgot. After submitting it, I realized that it was a little harsh. Sorry.
