hey everyone I just signed up..
I own an 02 stock wrx that got beat to sh** one day and it's literally done for I cant drive it anymore. after I get back from my deployment overseas early next year im definently buying a new scooby but the question is what do you think would be a smarter buy given reasonable prices at the time of purchase..a stock 2005 sti or a 2007 stock wrx. the reason im asking is becase the 05 sti will be cheaper yet the 07 wrx has the 2.5L with improved overall quality and performance over the years so im not sure. thanks for your help.

well a 05STI would def be a good choice imho over the reg 06/07 wrx.
just a question of finding a clean used one or one with like minimum mods on from someone you/or your friends know

^well that is debatable depending on who your talking to.
but the 05 was def a better upgrade to the 04 as it came with a slightly wider stance and larger hubs ...
after that its down to looks and i agree the 04/05 sti's do look hot
heres a pic of my old 04STI next to (now) my old 06STI

nice. whats the average price for an 05 sti w/ around 50k miles..i live in VA right now.
i got my 02 in houston for 5k. it was smashed in the front. the hood was junk along with 1 fender and the timing belts were crushed..it had 5k miles on it. after it was fixed and driven, one of the valves dropped leaving shreds in the turbo so I had to get a new engine..found an 04 engine for 2k total with shipping on ebay, it had 6k miles on it. that one worked fine til the car got smashed in the rear....and therefore was officially considered 'scrap' so im making money off the good parts.
if i get an 02 wrx dont you think a 2005 sti engine would fit it nicely?
i pref the look of the 06/7 but some eyelids do look sick on the 1st gen wrx

well depending on mileage and yr you should find them right in the low-mid 20k range.
you should check out the private for sale section theres always a good selection of cars there

05 is good stuff, I personally like the style more but its still hard to choose. Every subie is worth driving. Those are great cars there especially WTF FTW, pure sexiness.
From what I understand the 08's are smarter but are the WRXs as smart as the STis? Along with various suspension differences, 7" wheels to 8.5", power and traction control systems the 08 WRX, like every year before, has nothing on an 08 STi. Unless you are looking for the 4 door and (love modifying) always look for STis.
