There doesn't seem to be much activity here in the local forum lately. Thought I'd see if theres still anyone out there!!
I just picked up our new 10' STi on Tuesday down in LA and spent three days on the road driving it back up here. The long straight desert roads don't do this car any justice though.... Fun little trip despite Wednesday (the day I left Vegas) being full of bad luck.
So my check engine light flipped on and off a couple days ago then flipped back on yesterday. Took it to autozone and they said it was a Cylinder 4 misfire. Any suggestions on where to take my 04 impreza WRX in Boise?
@04IDSTI :
Did I just see you today in Moscow driving your STi to Wendy's? I didn't get a good look but something made me think it was yours. Looks great!
I'm here, but been a bit quiet. I've got a baby on the way, so I've been getting my daddywagon ready. 115K on the clock, and aside from the usual paint chips, the car is in great shape!
I've got an adapter/sandwich plate waiting to go in so my oil temp gauge wont get doused with oil with every oil change. I've also got some new brake pads in mind ... just waiting to pull the trigger. The rear are OE (wow!) and are near the end of their life. The front are Les Schwab crap, with no feedback to the pedal. I'm having a hard time convincing my wife that it's worth spending ~$90 for new front pads, even though they're not even close to being worn.
The Subaru dealer in Pocatello has a SICK 2010 black wrx sedan for sale
go check It out any of you Pocatello impreza-ers
it's way nice
and it's only 30,899!!
:wave:Hey everyone! I'm new to the site and new to the Subaru scene. From Pocatello, ID.... I just bought a 2003 wrx from a buddy of mine, only 69000 miles on it!! great and fun car i'll have to say. It's still completely stock though. so looking forward to adding some goodies to it in the near future. I'll be visiting this forum quite a bit i'm sure. Lots of info on here.
I'm new to the forums, but have had my 2010 STI for a year now. Would have posted earlier, but I just barely found this thread. I also live in the Boise area. I haven't really read all the posts in this thread, but if anyone knows about any Subaru clubs or meets in the area please let me know. Thanks in advance and nice to meet everyone.
whats up wurm, i think i've seen your wagon around town. I have an 03 blue bugeye sedan, wingless, with chrome 18's. i dont have any pics of it up. but i will get some soon
Anyone in the Mountain Home/ Boise area that has a Cobb Access Port that they are willing to share? I'm willing to pay a little for use. Oh and I would need the Cobb Access Port for the 2008 WRX. I just want the stage 1 map.
i found an ad on craigslist for a place in pocatello that does tunings... I havent called them myself yet, but plan to do so soon. the number is 208-251-1727. place is called "Spitfire Tuning", look em up on facebook too.
I would recommend being careful with spitfire tuning.
They currently have my car.
I gave it to them intending to do an engine build the monday before thanksgiving 2011.
The other things I am adding:
Blouch 20g-xt-r
Coating headers, up-pipe, down pipe.
Aquamist hfs-5.
L & E quick column.
Inverted BC coilovers.
They told me it was going to be a week's worth of work (consistent with other shops I spoke with in California and Utah).
The day before Thanksgiviving they told me there were going to be delays due to the holiday and machine shop/coating work.
That was fine.
Two weeks later I told them I thought it would be done already and complained about not having the car back-
They told me that they could get a rental for $30 a day (fine, but that isn't their job- their job is to perform work as agreed).
Around Christmas they still didn't have my ceramic coating work back (if they had told me the way they do coatings takes 3 weeks to a month, I would have declined).
Last week I came in they had an issue with a starter- I drove down there in a rental and spent two days sourcing a rebuilt starter from NAPA.
Then they had an issue with #1 cylinder flooding. They thought it was a stuck injector. They took the injectors out found out it wasn't stuck.
Turns out the aquamist diagram they were using was wrong- they corrected the wiring.
I told them to do a compression test. It was not until the fourth hour of attempting to get the car running that they looked at compression at all.
Mind you this is with me present in their shop for all the work they were doing.
They found out that all the gas they had put into cylinder # 1 had resulted in a blown headgasket.
I would still be in their shop if it were not for the fact I had to start work In Augusta, GA Monday the 30th.
They knew I was starting a new job 2 weeks into the process.
By the way, my car is the silver sti on their facebook- they have had it for 2.5 months.
The white wrx is another customer's car. It came in with a damaged engine. I do not think they have done anything to it, because the guy hasn't paid them.
If any of you own that car, and have not commited money to them, flatbed it to Utah and get someone who won't run you around to fix the car (They probably would still be baffled by the fuel issue if I had not been there).
Their lack of timeliness makes me very upset.
Every time I call or complain to them, they tell me, "we took less time and money then other shops would,".
They are not done 10 weeks in!
Other shops would have been complete, had very slightly higher cost, and proven track records on our cars (truetune in bountiful, Utah being the prime example).
Monday my car will be getting shipped. I gave them one last extension before I left (they agreed the car would be complete before 1 week from today- meaning either a. here in Georgia or b. well on it's way here).
That means they have to ship it Monday. If it isn't complete, they will be shipping it to topspeed so that someone who is decent can work on the car.
If they do not ship it out Monday, I will fly there and take the car back. If this happens, I will be bringing the police.
