I believe it just means its in the 2nd stage of the upgrading/mod'ing of the engine... stg 1 is like stock, 2 is catless and tuned and so on...

i may be wrong though... so dont quote me =)

Stock is stock. That's like stage zero

Stage one is ECU reflash. It smooths out the entire powerband, plus gives you a modest power increase across the board.

Stage 2 is ECU reflash plus downpipe. Most of the time (02-05 WRX) the uppipe is also replaced. Also, I did my full exhaust at this time. Some say you only need the downpipe done though.

Seriously, if you have a 02-05 WRX, if it still has the OEM uppipe, you should replace it asap. Those years have a catalytic converter inside. If that breaks apart, it'll send that material into your turbo, destroying it.
