Uh Uh. Subaru is in the business of selling cars to the whims of a world market for goodness sake.

    ugh

i love the subaru impreza wrx/sti. It is probably one of my favorite cars, i was planning on buying one in about 3 years or something. BUT. the 2008 impreza wrx is such a dissapointment. It looks like a mazda 3 hatchback with a hood scoop. They must have been on crack while designing this car. They should have just stuck with the 06-07 look. No t some ugly ass hatchback.

The 08's are fugly. The sedan looks like a malibu maxx and a chrysler front end. I'm not even going to comment on the hatch.
    Used to have stg4 wrx. stuck w/ stg0 srt4

It really seems as if Subaru wanted the new Imprezas to look apologetic. As if the WRX Sedan or Hatch was ashamed of its previous looks and now blends in with every other japanese car in the lineup.

I highly doubt that this will be the case. The whole point appears to be to make the car more "mainstream" looking and attract a broader demographic.

Yeah they will probaly end up selling more cars, and the wrx fans will still end up buying them more then likely.

I think the design towards something more mainstream has been affected by the fact that the Tribeca didn't do so well with it's more or less "unique" design. Personally I like the Tribeca B9's grill and headlights, it's the way the trunk slanted back out was a major turnoff. When it was first released I couldn't really tell if it was a minivan or an SUV. Anyways... I'm sure Subaru did enough research to justify their styling for the 08 WRXs.

After seeing more videos of the 08 WRXs I started to get a feeling that the car will grow on a lot of us. I guess we'll all have to get a test drive before jumping into conclusion.

I was initially lukewarm towards it, but I like the car more each time I see it.
It was the same OMGENDOFTHEWORLD! reaction in 2001, when the '02 models were announced. This too will pass, and we will welcome a new generation of WRX owner to the site.

Late August will tell the tale. After someone sees one with mods rolling past there will be a much better level of acceptance IMO.

Yeah, it's funny how the world ends every time a new model comes out.

"OMG it looks like an Alfa! Ugliest thing ever! It burns the eyes!" is still ringing in my ears from the last one.

Maybe if everyone didn't cry so much they wouldn't have to replace it every two years!

Everyone complained that the bugeye looked too weird and the vageye was too aggressive. Now the '08 is too mainstream. Heh.

Look at the base model of the revered GC8 model Impreza. It is a boring looking car, just like the '08. The new model will look good once STI and the aftermarket get their hands on them. I think it has a lot of potential.

Subaru and the brand issue form marketing sight:
    recognition value = 0
    stability of value = 0
    marketing policy = 0
