Subaru has reached a new milestone 49 years after the first Boxer engine was introduced.

The Japanese automaker has announced that it has built its 15 millionth Boxer engine, one of the hallmarks for the brand along with its Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. Subaru first introduced the Boxer engine in 1966 in the 1000, forgoing the typical inline and V-engine designs for a horizontally-opposed cylinder setup.
