Not disagreeing at all, but it really depends on the vehicle a lot. I was extremely lucky when I just traded for my new WRX. I traded in a 2008 Avalanche Z71 and actually got more than I paid for it brand new!!! I bought it last year during "Employee Pricing" and it also had a $5000 rebate. So granted the, $31700 they gave me for the truck is $10k off the sticker price, but thanks to smart shopping when I bought it, I actually made $400 after having the truck for a year and putting 20k miles on it!

This is probably the exception though.

It absolutely depends on the vehicle! I was making a broad generalization.

While on the topic of used car prices, I purchased my first car in 2002 and it came down to the Saab 25th Anniversary 9-3 SE 5door 2002 (nice car) or the Subaru WRX 2002 (fast car). Got the Saab bc of track record and the WRX was bran new to north america as well as a specialised car -so perhaps expensive to maintain...

Fast forward to October 2008 when it was time to sell the 9-3, I researched the price for that car and the WRX (just for fun). There it was: 9-3 ranges CAN$8,000/12,000 while the 2002 WRX was CAN$14,000/18,000... this was consistent with the web sites I checked. Now I have an sti and even happier.
