    No more Sport Compact Car

I seem to be the bringer of bad news

Source Interlink kills Sport Compact Car, laying off 115 employees - Autoblog

Yet another casualty in the aftermarket industry downswing...since the majority of magazines are driven by advertising dollars rather than subscriber money, when aftermarket companies can't afford to pay for advertising, thus the magazines that are dependent on it go away too. I'm sure there are other reasons as well (such as lack of financial return on people buying print mags/advent of online magazines taking precedent), but I'm certain the advertising dollars (or lackthereof) was a major problem.

Wow everything seems to be going bust.

Can't say I really liked the magazine but it was one of the more well known ones.

Are you talking about the article? It says Truck Trend is going to be restructured not SCC.

SCC took my interest into cars and helped me out a lot along the way. But companies don't last forever

Yeah, they might have said that, but just looking at the magazine over the past couple years...it's really thinned out. The only reason it'd thin out is lack of advertisers...but then again just about every mag has been thinning out these days. Magazine advertising is pretty damn expensive, so I'm not surprised a lot of companies are pulling out of it due to the low ROI.

Yeah if this happens to this magazine it can happen to any one that covers our passion.

Damn shame that the economy is this way. Hope there is light at the end of this dark financial tunnel.

Ahh makes sense. I do remember the magazine being a lot thicker just two years ago. I bought one a month or so ago out here and was wondering why it was so thin.

Yeah, just to put things into perspective...a 1/3 page, 2-color ad in Modified Mag for 1 month costs a company almost $5000. You get a discount down to around $4000 per ad if you commit to a whole year, but 12 x $4000 = $48,000. How many companies these days have that much money for advertising? And that's the least expensive ad available for that magazine too.

that mag and modified were like textbooks when you bought them lol. IMO modified is about the only "tuner" mag left. stupid street and import fooler spammed out their mags and they left a bad influence on others. i love Dsport, even tho it leaves some pages to flesh lol, the rest is actually filled with interesting articles and test cars. hell they send out free dvd's with some issues with decent car/flesh action lol

this part here is interesting, on that same note, i see more ads for forums/blog/websites and such vs. a performance shop or "bring your car here we'll dyno/build-it/blah-blah etc".

most shops just rely on youtube for their advertisement (by use of their customer's/tuner's endless video channels) lol

    i.e.
    ICS Tuning (Dynoflash)
    AMS
    Buschur

    just to name a few
