Question about WRXs

Hi, long story short, I was promised an STi by my dad but he went back on his word so now im thinking about getting a reg wrx 04. I figured for a beginner driver its a good car to start with. But Im kind of having doubts about if ill enjoy its power. Am I wrong? How does everyone like their WRXs?

Dude, I drove a 1988 Ford Escort Until I was 21. At that point I bought a 2002 GTI 1.8T that I saved up for myself. Now I am in a 2005 WRX. No 18 year old deserves to have an STi bought for them. The WRX is a great car, starter or not. Don't be so picky until you are buying it yourself.

No one takes kindly to these kind of posts dude. Be happy with what you get , at least your not payin for it. Everyone has a different opinion of what is fast so why don''t you go test drive one or better yet get a begginer car like everyone else.

Look. none of you know how i drive or whats in my mind and ive heard this garbage a lot and its really stupid that you judge that im going to die b/c im 18. My dad is 63 and hes the worst driver ive ever seen in my life. All I asked was if a peson would be satisfied in a regular wrx. If your going to post something negative just dpnt b/c ive heard it all.

man i had a 98 eclipse 1.8l w/ 98hp for my first car and i had it for 4 years before i got my wrx last year....get a beater first so you could learn stick and how to drive...then upgrade to rex

Depending on your perspecitve, I think you should more than enjoy the power aspects of a WRX. I would consider it (or maybe a 2.5 rs) for one of my kids once they are of age. Kudos to your dad on the decision, even if he did reneg on the deal. IMHO, an STi is just too much car for a young driver, unless you've had significant driver school instruction, including skid control, accident avoidance, etc. Enjoy the new ride.

The way i saw it was everyone should have to wait for their dream car. I mean if i get an STi now, ill have nothing to work for later, although newr models wil be out of course, but you get my point. And I know how to drive stick. It's not like the wrx is the first car i step into. But im sure Ill enjoy it. Plus plenty of room for mods. Wish I wasnt so picky. And my dad didnt go back on his word b/c of the STis power. I think he didnt believe i would get this far with the college. But whatever. At least Im geting my own car in a way unlike some of my friends. And i definitely plan on going to rack days and taking def. driving.

On a side note, i know the wrx can beat a plain lancer but can it keep up w/ an evo?
