I can't find the vf39 in there, but I can tell you a lot of people upgrade to a vf34 or vf22 (even that isn't accurate). Everone has a different goal in mind.

You have a lot to learn, but we all started somewhere. Learn to search more, then if you can't find the answers, post up and ask for help. Learn about your car first, then mod it.

Get the basics done first (exhaust/ecu/gauges) then worry about upgrading. You might change your mind on which direction to go. Don't forget 300 is the limit. After that, the wrx tranny will start to break apart.
