Hello, Just got an 05 impreza RS

I am new to the impreza scene, and I just traded my 04 cavalier (junk) on a 2005 impreza RS. I am very happy with my purchase and had a simple question to ask. I am sure this may have been asked before, so sorry in advance! I am looking to upgrade my exhaust with a catback system, maybe cobb or invidia, and i was wondering will it produce the same exhaust note from a wrx as it will on a rs? I am not sure how to describe the sound, but it is distinct.

    Thanks,
    Gray

i dont think that a catback will give you the same exact sound as the wrx for they are differnt engines.

It is still a boxer engine and I am pretty sure it has unequal length headers so it should be a similar tone. I don't think it will be exact.

I also thought that since it was a boxer engine, that it would produce a similiar sound. I guess since mine is a 2.5 n/a and the wrx is 2.0 fi, the sounds would be a little different. I plan to go with a cobb or invidia exhaust system, can you guys tell me which is a better system. And thanks for your help!!!!!

For the RS, you can't beat the stromung dual tip cat back. Get that with Borla header and your car will sound great.

I have a Cobb catback, and can vouch for their quality and the great sound. I would imagine that your 2.5l boxer will have a nice, low, growl...

The NA 2.5L will sound uber-sweet with an exhaust - similar to the WRX/STi rumble. Congrats on the car...great choice.

Welcome!! Another Cobb cat back owner here. It does have a nice low pitched rumble without being too loud. The STi sized 3.5" tip is not blingy. Have a look:
