hey guys, my name is kevin and may very quickly become part of clubwrx.

im currently an active member on aseclub.net, for my avenger (i know, i know) but my avenger is gonna get parted out and i will be purchasing a wrx.

im looking at the bugeye models and was curious if there is anything i should be aware of when looking for one? i know they have weak transmissions but is there anything else?

Welcome dude. Nice avenger. The most important thing is looking for one that is stock and not beat on. Some bugeyes are 5 years old now so its important to get one that hasn't been beaten on the whole time. Use you judgment, or better take someone along with you who knows about subys when you test drive it if possible. The wrx has a lot of quarks that may be misinterpreted as something they are not.

I would run away from cars that have

Cold air intakes or (CAI)
Short Ram Intakes or (SRI)
Blow Off Valves or (BOV)
Manual Boost Controllers or (MBC)

Good luck, you can find them no problem.

+3 I bought a bug eye from a dealer that had a CAI, and TBE test drove great. After I bought it, found that it would grind when down shifting into third gear at higher RPMs, AKA bad syncro. Get yourself an '04/'05
