    i have a? about my new wrx wagon

    i got this very nice wrx wagon on fathers day.i love the car its fast very fast. my guestion is it because of the boxer engine in line 4 , that the piston are kind of loud or thats just the way they are. can some one help with this thanks

    It can be a boxer or an inline 4 but not both. It happens to be a boxer. Check out "piston slap" with the search function and a number of threads should come up. Although our cars do have piston slap, it's not a general boxer characteristic. It's more a characteristic of our cars. Some users with earlier STi models had shortblocks replaced only to have the issue re-appear.

    it sounds like the loud lifters might be another one of the noises you are hearing - subies ALL have loud lifters; its the design of the engine, just like most of their head gaskets leak a little bit of oil. nothings perfect, but they still last forever
    Fender + WRX > Fender + VW...
